What DaDesktop Isn't
DaDesktop is a software solution that doesn't yet fit neatly into any existing category. Sometimes, it's easier to describe what DaDesktop is by first clarifying what it isn't and how it stands apart.
Online Conferencing
Is DaDesktop an online conferencing tool, similar to Zoom or Teams?
Typically, you'd need to combine DaDesktop with a video conferencing app such as Zoom, Teams, Skype, or WeChat to get the full experience.
DaDesktop might eventually include built-in conferencing features, but that's not a high priority at the moment.
So, what commonalities exist between, say, Zoom and DaDesktop?
Both offer basic chat functionality.
Public Cloud
Is DaDesktop comparable to cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or Aliyun?
Public cloud services are built to host applications, whereas DaDesktop is designed for people to use remote desktops.
How do AWS and DaDesktop overlap?
From a user's perspective, the similarities are minimal. Both allow you to access a remote machine and run software, but AWS EC2 targets system administrators, while DaDesktop is tailored for training participants, instructors, course coordinators, and management.
Some organizations still rely on AWS or other clouds for remote training delivery. However, a typical public cloud solution tends to be more expensive, slower, and less convenient than DaDesktop. DaDesktop is purpose-built for course delivery, not for general-purpose computing.
Learning Management Systems (LMS)
Does DaDesktop resemble learning management systems like Moodle, Rise UP, Open edX, or other platforms?
LMS platforms are typically focused on facilitating education, such as university courses, or supporting online self-study. DaDesktop, on the other hand, is currently aimed at instructor-led corporate training. Its primary audience includes corporate and government employees, rather than school or university students.
DaDesktop emphasizes a live, instructor-led approach to course delivery, with the trainer actively guiding sessions in real time.
What features do LMS platforms and DaDesktop share?
DaDesktop includes a range of functionalities that overlap with traditional LMS offerings, and in many ways, it goes beyond them.
With DaDesktop, course administrators can enroll participants, monitor attendance, assess engagement, verify connectivity, and even record screens throughout the session.
These processes are largely automated. For instance, trainers don't have to take attendance manually—the data is captured automatically. DaDesktop can track user location, connection duration, which exercises were completed (and which weren’t), and so on…
Students who missed the course can catch up by watching session recordings and practicing in the identical environment that was used during the live class.
