What Are Fresh-Start, Trainer, Participant, and Standalone Machines?
DaDesktop is an advanced training platform that gives you accessible cloud machines for training courses in Indonesia and admin tools to easily manage the desktop machines for each course.
To support this, DaDesktop employs several similar but distinct desktop machine types to run these courses.
Below, you'll find descriptions of each machine type.
Fresh-Start Machine
A 'Fresh-Start' machine is the one the Trainer uses to create and build their course material. Once it's finished, the Fresh-Start is duplicated to all Participant Desktops for the upcoming course. Think of it as a 'Golden Image' that can be restored if issues come up on the Trainer's or Participants' machines.
Trainer Machine
The 'Trainer' machine is used by the Trainer to deliver the course material to Participants during training. Its state evolves from the original Fresh-Start because the Trainer(s) will typically install, configure, and run software applications or libraries relevant to the topic.
When multiple Trainers lead a course, there will be several Trainer machines.
Participant Machine
Each participant uses a 'Participant' machine during the course to install, configure, and complete exercises under the trainer's supervision.
Fresh-Start, Trainer and Participant machines are usually automatically removed shortly after the course ends. That's why there's another machine type, not tied to any course, that can be kept indefinitely: the 'Standalone'.
Standalone Machine
A 'Standalone' machine isn't necessarily used during a course. As its name implies, it 'stands alone' and can be used before or after a course, or entirely on its own without any course connection. This makes it especially flexible.
Typical reasons for creating Standalone desktops include:
- Preparing training course materials that can be reused repeatedly outside of a course, or retained for later use.
- When you need a flexible machine with a different operating system, like Linux or Windows, to safely test out ideas.
