PC Farm (Bare Metal)
In addition to its cloud offerings, DaDesktop can give you direct access to physical, bare-metal desktops or servers.
This setup is designed for scenarios where each participant needs their own physical machine, and it has been applied in the following use cases, where learners require access to:
- an entire server without virtualization, which may be necessary for performance or licensing purposes (for example, ONAP, OpenStack)
- hardware that cannot be virtualized, such as certain GPUs, Mellanox cards (especially when firmware modifications are part of the training), and other network gear.
Furthermore, this solution can be integrated into an existing physical classroom with only minor adjustments. This enables the instructor to set up the classroom remotely, without needing to be on site.
The Cloud Desktop that runs in the cloud environment can be deployed directly onto participants' physical machines.
Onsite Deployment Requirement
To implement this solution, you need to purchase physical control cables (known as ddnexus), which cost around 100 USD per desktop.
You can give it a try by selecting Metal PC when setting up a Standalone or Fresh-start desktop.
