Creating from an OS Template
To build a desktop from an OS template, follow these steps:
- Go to the course and open the Desktops menu
- Click "Create From OS Template"
Here, you'll see the various settings available when creating from an OS template.
Below is an explanation of each field:
-
GPU Model
Pick a GPU model and type, if needed. Checking the 'Display GPU enabled servers' box will filter the list to show only servers with available GPUs. -
Datacentre / Server
Select the datacentre region and server that's closest to your location. -
OS to clone from
Operating System (OS) templates include Windows, Linux (such as Ubuntu, Debian, Almalinux, and more). -
Include custom, old, beta & rc Versions
DaDesktop regularly updates its templates, but if you run into issues with the latest one, you can try an older version here. -
CPU
Specify how many CPU cores you need. Note that the default of 8 cores works well for typical Linux and Windows tasks. -
Memory
Set the maximum memory (in GB) for your desktop. Keep in mind that the limit is determined by the server's available resources, and each server may have different memory caps. If you need to increase the limit, reach out to us via Support Chat. -
Disk Space
Choose how much disk space to allocate. It defaults to 50GB.
